The Bataille de Rivoli (the Battle of Rivoli) was a battle won by Napoleon in 1797. The above painting is by Felix Philippoteaux, who painted it in 1844. It is just one of the many paintings that can be found at the Palace of Versailles.
Louis XIV, also known as the sun king, was responsible for making the Palace of Versailles the enormous and beautiful palace that it is today. He wasn’t a humble man either. The above picture shows one of the many, many locations throughout the palace where Louis XIV emblazoned his own image.
