The Place du Marché Notre Dame is the place where the local open-air market is held in Versailles. It is called the Notre Dame market because of it’s proximity to the Notre Dame church, which is located to the west of the marketplace.
The Place du Marché is located only about .75 km (.5 miles) from the Palace of Versailles and is easily accessible by foot.
The best time to visit the market is on Tuesday, Friday, or Sunday mornings, when it is open for business.
The marketplace itself is shaped like square with two perpendicular streets splitting it into four quadrants where vendors can set up their products. the square is surrounded by buildings which contains more vendors selling their fresh vegetables, meat, cheese, and other products.
